The launching ceremony of the Report was held in Marriott Hotel on February 18, 2016 which was attented by the adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Sartaj Aziz and H.E. Mr. Sun Weidong, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China besides high-profile government functionaries, Chinese friends, Chinese and Pakistani media. Five thousand copies of the report were published which were widely circulated in Pakistan and China.

101 FoC convened a high profile Round Table Conference (RTC) in Karachi title “Karachi Nuclear Power Plants – Misperceptions & Reality” on 28 February 2015 in which leading dignatries of Karachi and representatives of the major political parties of Pakistan participated. The RTC was convened to blunt a massive sinister campaign launched by a foreign-funded academic and activits in Karachi to create fear in the minds of the people regarding the leakage/meltdown of K2/K3 and the havoc it would wreak in the metropolitan city of Pakistan.

11 July 2016Meeting of Islamabad Based-Senior Members of the Supreme Central Committee of 101 FOCA meeting of Islamabad-based Senior Members of the Supreme Central Committee of 101 FoC was held on 11 July 2016. It was aimed at giving support to China on the South China Sea issue. Mr. Zahid Malik, Chairman, 101 FoC, delivered Address of Welcome and among the prominent speakers, the gathering was also addressed by Lt. Gen ® Naseer Khan Janjua, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Deputy Head of Mission of Chinese Embassy, Mr. Zhao Lijian. The event was extensively covered by the Pakistan Observer. A Resolution in support of South China Sea issue was also passed in the meeting. It merits mentioning that the Chairman of the 101 FoC, Mr. Zahid Malik, had come a long way from Beijing where he was undergoing treatment for Cancer.

27 September 2017Round Table Conference China – The peacemakerPakistan Observer and 101 Friends of China held a Round Table Conference in Karachi titled “CHINA, THE PEACEMAKER” on September 27, 2017 where Mr. Mohammad Zubair, Governor Sindh was the Chief Guest and H.E. Mr. Wang Yu, Consul General of China in Karachi was Guest of Honour. The RTC was well-attended and addressed by renowned personalities of Karachi.

11-18 November 2015Ten-Member delegation of 101 Friends of China visits ChinaA 10-member delegation consisting of Senior Members of the think tank headed by its Chairman, Mr. Zahid Malik, visited China for nine days from 11 November to 18 November 2015 on the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, Beijing. During the stay the delegation also visited the Shanghai Institute for International Studies. The visit was very productive from every aspect.

An MoU was also signed on the occasion between Mr. Yu Xueyong, Director of the Political and Press Affairs, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China on behalf of the Chinese families in Pakistan and Ms. Sadia Zahid Malik, on behalf of the Social Diary, weekly magazine of Pakistan Observer.

Cancer Treatment in ChinaIn February 2016 Mr. Zahid Malik was diagnosed with cancer. Some of his close friends advised him to go to Europe, especially the UK for treatment but he preferred going to China which is a clear manifestation of his love for that country. He was admitted in the “Cancer Hospital – Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing. The Family of Mr. Zahid Malik is greatful to all Chinese and Pakistani dignitaries who visited him in Beijing Hospital to know his welfare.
